Buyer questions
Things every CFO asks before signing
Is NetSuite more expensive than Odoo?+
Yes, in almost every configuration. NetSuite list pricing starts around $999/month base + $99/user/month + module add-ons. A 50-user mid-market deployment typically lands between $80k-$180k/year in licensing alone. Odoo Enterprise is around $31.10/user/month with all apps included - the same 50-user deployment is roughly $19k/year. Implementation cost: NetSuite partners typically quote $150k-$500k for a comparable scope; Odoo partners $40k-$150k.
Can NetSuite be customized as deeply as Odoo?+
No. NetSuite customization runs through SuiteScript (a proprietary JavaScript dialect) and SuiteFlow inside Oracle's hosted environment. You cannot change the data model freely. Odoo is open-source - you have direct access to the Python ORM, all model definitions and the full source code. For mid-market with non-standard processes, Odoo wins by a wide margin.
Is NetSuite faster to implement than Odoo?+
No. NetSuite SuiteSuccess methodology promises 100 days but real mid-market projects routinely take 6-12 months. Odoo implementations for the same scope typically land at 8-16 weeks. NetSuite's longer timeline comes from the rigid configuration model and the partner-only customization channel.
Which is better for UAE / GCC localization?+
Odoo. UAE 5% VAT, FTA tax return, WPS payroll and bilingual EN/AR are all available either out-of-the-box or as well-maintained modules. NetSuite's UAE localization is enterprise-tier and typically requires a regional partner add-on at significant cost.
When does NetSuite still make sense?+
Three situations: (1) you are a large enterprise with public-company reporting and audit-rigor requirements, (2) your finance team uses heavy multi-book accounting and complex consolidations, (3) you are already standardized on Oracle stack (NetSuite Analytics, OCI). For mid-market under 200 users, Odoo Enterprise wins on TCO and flexibility.
Can we migrate from NetSuite to Odoo?+
Yes. We have shipped NetSuite-to-Odoo migrations. The hard parts are SuiteScript customizations (rewritten in Python) and saved searches (rewritten as Odoo reports / domains). Master data and historical transactions migrate cleanly via standard exports.
